Oakland Artist, HellaFutures

We're thrilled to collaborate with Oakland-based artist, muralist, and teacher Corbrae Smith, also known as HellaFutures.

HellaFutures' art embodies Afrofuturistic details rooted in current events. His unique style and tube-like designs are known, recognized, and exalted throughout The Town.

About this collaboration, Smith says, "Oaklandish is Oakland; it is the Bay Area and represents my tribe. Being in partnership with Oaklandish means the world to me because they are helping me solidify my part of Bay Area culture in a way I wouldn't be able to do alone."

Today, HellaFutures is slowing down and taking on projects he finds more meaningful and novel like joining forces with chalk artists to create intricately detailed chalk murals for festivals. He's also participating in more gallery shows and recently partnered with the San Jose Sharks to design their Black History Month Jerseys.

Oakland has been pivotal in helping HellaFutures discover and harness his identity as an artist.

HellaFuture's design for the Oaklandish collab highlights the town's classic tree symbol with his unique but quintessential modern tube-like design elements and futuristic details.
