History / Inspiration
The port is famous as Oakland's window to the world — the place where California's quality goods are exported to the rest of the world. But most of this town's greatest exports use different modes of transportation: soundwaves, spectrums, molecules and renegade spirit.
Isadora Duncan learned got her rhythm here. So did MC Hammer. Bruce Lee perfected his kick in this town, and Clint Eastwood honed his piercing stare. The Hell's Angels found the nerve to take the FBI to court — and win. Today, our city officially has more artists per capita than any other town in America. And that's not even counting the musicians, cooks, and aspiring cannabis tycoons.
This design honors all of Oakland's finest exports, both material and intangible. Because quality goods come from quality neighborhoods!
