Oaklandish is proud to announce Camp Reel Stories as our Nonprofit of the Month for August!
Girl Power! Camp Reel Stories believes that when women and girls are better represented behind the scenes in the media, they will be better reflected on the screen. Only 16% of decision-makers in the film and television industry are women. Camp Reel Stories empowers young women to value and nurture their own unique voice, create their own media, view current media critically and thoughtfully, and aspire to leadership in all aspects of their lives.
Camp Reel Stories offers women of all ages an opportunity to learn how to make films and tell their stories. They do this through a combination of workshops and camps for girls and women who want to learn how to make movies in the new digital media era.
Camp Reel Stories is an immersive media program led by professionals in the Media Industry. Working in small, collaborative groups, this camp gives the campers the opportunity to make and broadcast their own short films.
Please join us on Sunday, August 21st (12-4pm) at our Downtown Oakland Oaklandish Store (1444 broadway Ave.) to learn more about Camp Reel Stories and all their amazing programs – 10% of the day’s proceeds will go directly to support the great organization!
