E'ville Eye x Oaklandish neighborhood collection features designs for North Oakland, West Oakland, Downtown/Lake Merritt, East oakland, Deep East Oakland, and the Oakland Hills.
East Oakland contains neighborhoods bordered to the south of 14th Avenue, West of I-580 and North of Hegenberger Road. Neighborhoods include Lynn, Tuxedo, Reservoir Hill, Prospect Hill, Bartlett, Jingletown, Edgewater, Oakport, Peralta, Sausal Creek, South Kennedy, Harrington, Hacienda, Hawthorne, Hegenberger, Havenscourt, Millsmont, Seminary, Rancho San Antonio, Highland Terrace, Lockwood-Tevis, Fruitvale, Fremont, Meadowbrook, Jefferson, Allendale, Mills College, Fairfax, Maxwell Park, Melrose and “The Twomps.”
Designer Rob Arias is a third generation East Bay native, founder of The E'ville Eye Emeryville-focused news website, and an officer of the Emeryville Historical Society. Rob is a career graphic designer employed by a downtown Oakland headquartered company.
“I’m positive I got some things wrong or omitted a few important neighborhoods,” Arias lamented. “My hope is that in some small way, these tees help document these names for new and longtime residents alike. Without physical reminders acknowledging them, many are in danger of fading into history unless we make a concerted effort to preserve them.” Read more about the design process here.
