Women's Raised Fists Blossom
This is the first in a series of artist-led campaigns to give new life to murals that were painted on boarded-up storefronts in Downtown Oakland during the Black Lives Matter protests in May 2020. This design ‘Raised Fists Blossom’ by Oakland artist Amanda Bliss was painted on the Tribune building. Though the mural has since been removed, the struggle for social justice continues. Amanda wants her art to make a positive and enduring impact on the Black community. To help her accomplish this, Oaklandish is providing this platform for Amanda’s art. All proceeds from this tee will be transferred to the artist to be divided evenly among these organizations: Anti Police Terror Project, East Oakland Collective, Black Futures Lab, and Good Mother Gallery. She chose these organizations for their successful work to 1) defund the police, 2) provide services that meet the immediate needs of the BIPOC community and 3) amplify Black voices and expression.
