Oakland’s Treasured Lakeside Institutions Launch Summertime Campaign to Bring a Shine to the Jewel of Oakland
Oakland, CA – For generations, Lake Merritt has been a beautiful gathering place in the heart of Oakland, providing a picture-perfect setting for picnics, barbecues, special events and more.That’s why this summer, we’re bringing some shine to Oakland’s jewel!
Inspired by their passion for The Town and love of Lake Merritt, Children’s Fairyland, Oakland Museum of California (OMCA), the Oakland Public Library, Visit Oakland, the Oakland Parks & Recreation Foundation, and the Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce Oakland have joined forces to launch the LOVE OUR LAKE campaign.
LOVE OUR LAKE is a community-centered campaign to bring joy and vitality to Lake Merritt all summer long! From Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend, the campaign will showcase Oakland’s beauty and creative brilliance against the backdrop of our beloved jewel, Lake Merritt:
● Discover pop-up activities showcasing Oakland artists, performers, and culture-makers, including three free Saturday concerts featuring SambaFunk!, John Santos & Friends, and the West Coast Blues Society
● Join Lake Merritt walking groups
● Volunteer for organized lake stewardship activities
● Experience health and wellness through free classes
LOVE OUR LAKE kicks off on Saturday, May 25 with a free concert on the shores of Lake Merritt, as part of a series of free summertime concerts and events:
