The Oakland 68s: The First of Their Kind

The Oakland 68's is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit independent supporters' group, the first of its kind in Major League Baseball, founded in 2017 by a few Right Field Bleachers Die Hards. They've gone from drumming together for the Oakland A's to sparking the SELL Movement that gained national attention in 2024.

Their logo is inspired by the Olympic Summer Games held in Mexico City in 1968, during which Tommie Smith and John Carlos were the center of controversy after receiving their medals over their raised fist salute, a symbol of Black power and the Human Rights Movement at large.

The 68's support various local teams, including the Oakland Roots SC, Oakland Soul, Oakland SC, and the Ballers, as well as the city of Oakland itself. In addition to preserving the fanaticism for Oakland sports, the 68's are dedicated to the community through coaching, volunteering, and donating to various causes and charities. Most importantly, they strive to amplify the voice of the fans.

For Our City. For Our Teams. Forever.
